School Days
At the age of 5, Mary Jo and I skipped happily off to Kindergarten at Clinton School. It was the only time in our many years of friendship that we went to the same school and were in the same grade. Mary Jo was placed in a Catholic school the following year.
Mom had prepared me well for Kindergarten as I could tie my shoes, print my name, and knew my address and phone number. Those were the only prerequisites for the first year of school.
I loved bringing home gold stars on my report card. However, I was very disappointed when I learned I didn't get a paycheck to go with those gold stars. You see, whenever I would fuss when Daddy would leave for work. his reply had always been, "I have to go to school to get a paycheck."
I attended Clinton Elementary School from Kindergarten through the third grade.
